The fabric doesn't wick as well as a synthetic mesh, and is a bit heavier, but it feels so much smoother and a lot less clammy than a synthetic. It's perfect for slightly cooler weather since it holds warmth better than a synthetic. It also looks like a cotton shirt, so you can wear it out in public, which makes it great for traveling.
