Not really for 3 people

Ranked #354 - 3-Season Tents
August 9, 2006
Finally got to take this thing out last weekend. It performed decently. My biggest complaint is that it's not really a 3 person tent. Sierra designs suggests that you sleep head-to-toe, but that doesn't really work, and standard sized sleeping pads will definately overlap in the foot area (out of curiosity we stuck two standard size pads next to each other in a rectangular shape, but even then the bottom was slightly touching a tent sidewall. My 2 friends and I are all shorter than 6' tall, but I woke up with a damp sleeping bag because it was touching the sidewall near the foot area. Because there is a 2 inch gap between the tent body and the rain fly, it is a little creepy to wake up with mosquitoes trapped between the two surfaces, and it is also somewhat difficult to prevent them from getting in the tent if one person would like to exit. The unique shape is attractive, but not very practical. Although there are 2 doors, they are right next to each other and it is near to impossible to get out of the tent without waking up the other 2 tentmates. This tent would make a fine, although not hyperlight, 2 person tent but it doesn't cut it as a 3 person tent unless the third person is a child.
