Ranked #696 - Water Filters

I wouldnt consider this the lightest or smallest water filter on the market, but I would still consider it the best. Ive spent many hours looking at different types of filtration and purification systems. When it comes down to it, this is the safest method. You dont have to worry about dunking a bottle and trying to treat all the water around the edges. You dont have to wait 30 minutes or 4 hours for the water to be treated. The biggest advantage of this filter over its little brother is the 0.2 micron additional filter. My girlfriend works in a research lab that creates medical diagnostic kits for many of the intestinal illness that can come from contaminated water, (crypto, giardia, c-diff, etc.) and they also use a 0.2 micron filter. If its good enough for them, its good enough for me. Even though it doesnt filter out viruses, if you are using this in the US, there isnt much risk. For 3rd world countries, I would recommend using some type of chemical first. Usually after every couple uses, I need to clean the ceramic filter. It only takes one spore for you to become infected.
