Nothing's worse than catching an edge on your board and slamming your knees on hard, icy snow; well SOME things are worse I guess. Anyway, these pads fit nicely under my pants and surprisingly stayed put all day (though without any straps I expected them to move around). The round-molded kneecap insert seems to help keep them centered. Padding is light, but helps with minor falls, though they're not going to do much if you're running wide-open. I'm small (14" kneecap circumference) and the mediums fit "snug" but comfortable. To steal a line from Zeppelin, you "big-legged-women" better go for the large!
