They're good for summer hiking. They brush the branches (and thorns) aside better than raw skin, but don't heat you up. The detachable pant legs are fine, but the zipper area for it is a bit thick and you notice it. You can wear it around town, but it lacks for pockets for that purpose. I like my North Face version for that, but the material is heavier. So, if it's hot, these are great. When it's cooler, I use the North Face.
