Ranked #613 - Liquid Fuel Stoves
December 14, 2005
This stove replaced my 13-year-old Whisperlite which still works great, but I thought it was time to upgrade. From the minute I fired her up and she rocked. It has ultimate flame control. And if you get the perfect blend of pumps (about four on an 11oz MSR bottle) and turn the valve on about 10 seconds before it goes out it is not too loud. But the noise is a welcome sound when it has been raining all day on you and youre finally done with the days leg of the hike. It reminds you of why you came out here and makes rain no longer a bother. It also is very fuel efficient. I used an 11oz MSR bottle on a three-day hikes and still had about 1/8-1/4 of fuel left when I got home. I also had no problems with it on my winter campouts either. Pot stability is outstanding and setup is a breeze. It is decent on weight and compacts really nicely. This stove does it all, from filet to hard boil, you can't go wrong with it.
