The Ultimate Insulation Layer
By Zonle1
Ranked #4371 - Men's Fleece Jackets
November 15, 2005
The Patagonia R1 is simply the best insulation layer. Depending on the conditions, I will wear a wicking T-shirt (Patagonia Silk weight, or R.5), then the R1 Flash Pullover. Depending on the activity, I will wear the proper shell. 90% of the time I will wear a soft-shell, i.e. Cloudveils Serendipity jacket for ice climbing, or for heinous conditions, I go with a Gore-Tex shell. Either way, the R1 is key.
