Ranked #35 - Men's Backpacking Boots

I hate to say it, but I'm thinking of retiring my 520's. The soles are getting a bit rounded off and a bit smoother, though they are still waterproof and the leather is still in very good shape. I do a lot of off trail hiking in the foothills of the Cascades - day hiking mostly and some multi-day trips on the PCT. I wear these boots summer and winter. Even lots of snowshoeing on & off trail. I'm amazed at how well these boots have held up. I was looking through some older pictures the other day, and realized I had the same boots on in the 2006 photos! I plan on buying another pair of the same - you can't beat the quality of construction and materials in these 520's. I would never trust the rubber-covered-toe type of boot to hold up like this. Never have had a blister or wet feet with these!
