Our children have been using these jackets as shells for skiing for the past 4 years and they work great! You have to layer appropriately for the temperature and we don't tend to ski in the real wet nasty weather because we are in the Mid-Atlantic region.
And don't tell my son, but he has been wearing his sister's hand-me-down acoustic blue girls jacket for the past two years. I am afraid I probably won't be able to saddle him with his sister's pink jacket when the time comes.
