Back to the true Bombshell

So I have had the last two versions of this jacket and just got the new one in the mail. I was so impressed with the first edition of this jacket that I got the second one but the material was lighter, less wind and water resistant. I am really happy to see that they have gone back to the true bombshell material. This is my go to shell for both resort and backcountry. So if you are looking for a bomber shell that is very well priced this is a great buy!

Columbia definitely makes great gear as well. In my opinion, you get what you pay for. A $250 jacket from North Face, Mountain Hardwear, Columbia, Stoic, Marmot, etc.... will all perform about the same, and the differences come are usually just the specific features of the jacket and the fit. Things to consider when buying a pricey ski jacket are: -If it's insulated or not - jackets with insulation are generally less "technical" as shells, since some of what you're paying for is going towards insulation, and not a super solid outer shell that will keep you warm and dry. -How waterproof/breathable is it? - Average ski jackets start at around 8-10K waterproofing, which is OK for sunny days, but when it's dumping snow out, you'll want to be wearing something that's more around 15-20k waterproof and all that water will bead right off the jacket. - Does the jacket have anything extra that will be nice for skiing? - Extra features on a good ski jacket can include(but not limited to) Wrist gaiters, powder skirt, sealed seams, extra pockets, adjustable hood that fits over helmets, and under-arm venting.

How does Stoic compare to Columbia gear. I bought a hard shell from Columbia at a similar price piont (250 with -30%) however I never see Columbia mentioned anywhere. Should I return the gear and just go with Stoic/Marmot? Its getting a bit confusing
