Great hat, but doesn't cover my ears

I'm new to running, and I was a bit skeptical about getting this because I didn't really want to look like I was wearing a swimcap, but I have to side with function over style. It keeps the top of my head warm, unlike my headband. A thicker hat would definitely be too hot--it's perfect in 20-30 degree weather, and it's a bit too warm when it's 40 degrees out. It'd definitely be uncomfortable below 10, and if it's really windy, snowy, etc., it won't help you.
The one thing I DON'T like is that I really do have to wear it with a headband if it's cold at all--like layering for my head--because it doesn't cover my ears! Maybe it's too small, I don't know. But my ears get cold the most easily, so that's a problem.
