Didn't last, bad customer service

The jacket started out great. Was a great all year round jacket, but as time went on a spot near the zipper began to delaminate, as others have reported problems. Also the Velcro strap stitching has come undone. It does not seem like they have fixed this as another reviewer stated concern about this. Maybe I got a lemon, who knows. I received this jacket as a gift from a family friend, whom me and my family are no longer speaking to. I thought this jacket said LIFETIME warranty, so I emailed them, waited weeks never got a reply. I finally called them, but they said I needed a receipt, which I couldn't produce since I was gifted it. Other stoic products I've used have been great, but this one has just been a let down, along with the customer service. I recently emailed Burton about some new laces for my boots, and ankle straps for my 2007 cartel bindings, and they shipped them out right away. No need to even try and remember where/when I bought it or find a receipt from nearly 5 years ago, quick response and excellent service, unlike stoic (and by extension backcountry).

I honestly don't remember the friend/family who gifted the the jacket to me. I have a bunch of other stoic products and other gear stuff from over the years and that's lasted, so I'm fairly sure it is a lemon. Its just the problem of procuring a receipt for an item that should have a lifetime warranty. I understand if it was like a 1 year warranty, and they needed the purchase date, but it has a lifetime warranty. They should be able to inspect it and confirm that it's an authentic stoic product and that it has a lifetime warranty

Not sure what happened with your experience, but as someone who has bought quite a bit of gear from backcountry/s & c/dept of goods I will argue that Backcountry's customer service has been excellent. I own last years bombshell although it looks identical and sounds like you got a lemon. I will say I tore a 1 in by 1in hole in the hood but there were many times I came out of tight trees expecting to find a gaping hole in my arm or shoulder and the material held up great.

Over the years all the parts Burton has replaced when I asked has probably totaled over $260. I just want some remedy to the jacket being fixed. The jacket is great and the build quality from stoic is normally great, so I think the item is just defective, and its a lifetime warranty. I'm comparing superior Burton's customer service and warranty to stoic (and by extension backcountry). My brother had a ripped Burton AK jacket from like 5 years back, and not too long ago called up Burton and they told him to send it in and they shipped back a new one. Not everyone can track down the receipt they have for every single purchase or gift they ever received. If the item is lifetime warranty, whats the issue with fixing it without a receipt when there's a defect?
