Ranked #3 - Men's Technical Shells

Bombshell just arrived to match my bibs. Thanks to reviewer Miguel, I decided to go with a medium instead of a large. I'm glad I did.
I'm 5'10", 195-200 lbs, with a 42" chest. The medium is a technical fit for me. I have complete freedom to move around without extra fabric flapping in the breeze and enough room to fit a puffy layer underneath for those brutally cold days. Another reviewer was concerned about the center back length of the jacket. Not to worry. Stoic's 26.5" is long enough to completely cover my bum. In all honesty, it feels like the medium was designed for someone around 6'2" with 33" sleeves, but I don't mind the extra length.
Stoic put some good thought into the features of the jacket. The main handwarmer pockets go through to the inside of the jacket and are mesh-lined so they can double as vents. Zipper hoods are bar-tacked for extra strength. The collar is fleece-lined for extra comfort and a little fleece flap keeps the zipper off your chin.
My only complaint - and it's a small one - is that the thumbholes in the cuffs feel a bit tight to me. I'm hoping that they will stretch out a bit as I wear the jacket.

Having been to the mountain now (not in a revival church-type way), I can update my review. The thumbholes stretched out enough that they didn't feel tight at all. I was warm with just a 200-weight merino layer underneath on a cloudy, 20° day with reasonable wind. The DWR is solid, with water beading well. I pulled the pow skirt out and don't expect to need it again with the bibs in place. The hood is BARELY helmet compatible. It fits over a Giro G10 without any room to spare. New gripe to replace the thumbholes - a backpack waist strap interferes significantly with the lower pockets. I don't plan on keeping anything in them while I have a pack, so no big deal for me, but it may be an issue for someone using the Bombshell in a more technical manner.
