Although Gore-Tex is one of the greatest additions to the fabric industry out there, unfortunately, not everyone can afford it. Since it's invention many companies have worked hard to develop their own version, as it were, and Columbia is one of those companies that have done so with stylistic engineering & "affordable" class with the "BUGABOO" PARKA! I just purchased my second one last week and am, in a sense, anxiously looking forward to some low temp's with a dash of wind if you will, just so i can wear my brand-new, weather-proof, wind-resistant, breathable & very comfortable, black w/ neon-green accents Bugaboo! Which only cost $175.00! Try doin' dat wit a gore-tex coat. Forgettaboutit.
