If You Could Only Have just One...
By Dean Whitehead
Ranked #1 - Water Filters
September 11, 2011
If you could only have just "one" filter for everything, i.e. camping, international travel, natural disaster preparedness, this is it... Yeah its flow rate/number of strokes per liter is less/more then others but its bombproof, filters down to .2um sized "stuff", has the longest lifespan filter, and is super easy to maintain.
I pack this filter if I know the water where I am going is more than questionable, i.e. I have to filter from a puddle or pool of water in the cattle field, etc... I then just pack drops/pills or my UV pen for viruses...
I pack the Katadyn Vario only for all other conditions and an UV pen only when I know the water is clear...
