Can't Get it to work

I like the look of this pack. It fits nicely. However, I cannot get it to work! I bite on the valve, I suck on it, and NO WATER comes up. I had friends who have used other hydration packs try it, and they have the same failure. I don't see any blockage. I don't see that anyone else has the same problem. But, this thing is useless to me right now. If anyone has any advice for me, that would be great.
