Gear Review
Stands up to trail crew work.

Ranked #94 - Water Reservoirs

I work/have worked on a trail crew on Mount St. Helens/Gifford Pinchot for 4 years now. I bought this bag this year and have been using it every day relentlessly. I have the 6l bag and I gotta say it's tough as nails. It goes in my backpack (which doesn't have a reservoir slip) and gets tussled around with chainsaw files, dirt, pointy objects and various forms of trash/gear non stop for 10 hours a day. It has yet to show signs of use.
I'm die hard when it comes to brand loyalty with MSR, even sometimes when it means paying too much. They have NEVER let me down. This is the best MSR product that I own, right next to the miniworks microfilter. You will be happy with this bag if what you need is unbelievable versatility.
I use it with a mouthpiece for when I'm hiking/working. I use it as a camp res for when we are spiked out in the wilderness. It has the same size mouth as a large mouthed Nalgene so there's plenty of compatibility issues resolved. The miniworks filter screws right onto this bad boy, so no balancing acts. Shoot, you can even use it as a stand alone water backpack if you use the guide string over your shoulders (not as comfy but sometimes the situation arises). I will be buying the shower head attachment as well to make cleaning up dishes easier, I'm not much for bathing in the backcountry.
