Works great with the shut off valve

I recently purchased a Platypus Big Zip, which comes with the shut-off valve already on the hose. This cover can be used with the shut-off valve.

To use the the cover with the shut-off valve, remove the bite valve from the shut-off valve. I twisted back and forth while pulling. It's jammed in there good and looks like one piece so I wasn't sure if it would separate, but it came off without incident.

Next, put the bite vale into the cover as far as it can go. Mine poked out the bottom of the cover by about a millimeter. Then twist/shove the bite valve back onto the shut-off valve. Pushing by the cover was a failure, it simply pushed the cover off the bite valve. Try pushing against the bite valve to push them back on the shut-off valve.

Voila! No more setting the mouth piece down on trail manure.

This is the same mouthpiece included with the Platypus hose insulator. So if you are cheap like me, a walk to the hardware store nets the insulation for a couple bucks.
