Durability Issues

I bought this shirt on SaC, and took it on two 2-day trips with a ~30lb pack on. After the first trip the shirt had developed a few holes from rubbing against the snaps on the inside of my pants. For the second trip I decided to not tuck the shirt in to avoid the problem, but it then rubbed against the belt and developed more holes; it looks like I ran a cheese grater over the shirt (picture attached, w/ quarter for size comparison).

I liked the shirt, but for a shirt this price it needs to last more than 4 days of use. I contacted bc.com support about it, and they seemed to agree it was a warranty issue, but since I bought it on SaC they will not honor the stoic "lifetime warranty".

Long story short, don't wear this shirt with a pack. I really like the other stoic items I've purhcased, but I'm going to avoid their merino products from now on, and I'll likely be much more wary about purchasing any stoic products on steepandcheap.

I've had no issues w/ returns of a couple of Stoic items that were purchased from SaC. They were obvious QA defects (the inner liner on a Luft hoodie and a crooked zipper) that I initiated an RMA on the day after I received them, so not the exact same situation as yours. They did immediately give me a pre-paid return label and shipped a replacement overnight free of charge the same day. I'm thinking you maybe caught a bad CS rep (although I've yet to experience one from SaC/Chainlove/BC/HnR, maybe they were from an overflow call center...)

I had a similar issue on this shirt, but on the back where my pack rubbed a hole in it. I emailed SAC and they said that they have a 30 day return policy, except on Stoic merchandise which is lifetime. "It's our brand!" was their quote in the email I received. You may want to review this with them, because I think you have been misinformed.

Um...does it say somewhere on the Stoic site or SAC that they wont honor Stoic warranties on SAC purchases? Doesnt seem right. What if it was gifted? Are they going to ask you to call your Aunt Matilida in nosebleed Vermont and get some proof or purchase?

Hey, WHOA! Backcountry.com, not cool. You won't honor the warranty on your OWN brand, because it was purchased through your OWN outlet? *sigh* Look, I've had nothing but good experiences with backcountry.com's customer service. And I get that Steep&Cheap is an outlet, which could mean anything from overstock to seconds. But when it's your own merchandise, you know perfectly well what its condition is. I don't think it's completely unreasonable to honor your warranty on your brand if you know it was overstock. Please consider it. And if you really, truly can't manage it, please at least add that caveat to the "What's the catch" section of the How It Works page in the S&C help area. Thanks!
