Stainless steel is the way to go

This bottle is great! Truly does not get skunky for a while...I mean weeks possibly months. I don't keep the greatest track of time.

Simple: the design is clean and straightforward without all a bunch of curlicued patterns and whatnot.

Functional: the loop on the cap is a great size. Not to big that it gets in the way but not so small that you can easily attach/detach a carabiner or grab hold of it. The lip of the bottle is lined in BPA free plastic to keep your mouth from sticking to the bottle when temperatures drop.

Easy to identify: brightly colored cap (I have the green) and the awesome Backcounty logo.

Good size: holds a good amount of water without being too big.
