Ranked #291 - Winter Packs
April 17, 2011
I upgraded from an older heli pro to the outlaw. Wanted A-frame ski carry and an internal frame. The frame makes the pack a lot easier to load, it hugs your back better, and it doesn't sag or move around as much as the heli pro while skiing. The avy tool pocket is awesome, easy to use and the access zippers are outside the upper compression straps so you don't have to unclip them to get at your gear. The back access zipper also comes in handy, you don't have undo the hip belt to get into the main pocket. The compressibility is another plus, 32L is pretty big for side and slackcountry when your just carrying avy gear and maybe a layer, but the straps let you compress the pack down to a good size without a problem.
