Hestra Vertical Cut Freeride Glove

Pretty Awesome

By Ranked #197 - Ski Gloves April 7, 2011

To start, these are some of the most comfortable gloves I've ever worn and despite being leather they were this way straight out of the box. After applying the balm they became even more supple and for a mid bulk glove they have some pretty epic dexterity. The neoprene cuff really locks them in place too and fits nicely under your jacket.

As its now late season in Colorado I was expecting these gloves to just make me sweat, however, they seem to somehow adapt to whatever temperature I'm riding in as long as I'm wearing the proper layering on my core. I usually never get cold (I can wear park gloves in 20F and my hands will stay warm) but with these I've found cold fingers at 32F until I put on the proper base layer. Not sure how that works but it's the reason I'm only giving them 4 stars (I'll probably need to get a stretch liner to wear under them in the cold weather).

My only other gripe, which I wasn't expecting to care about, is the lack of a nose-wipe. It's only a small detail, and something I'm sure I'll get used to, but if you need to wipe your face or goggles a bunch it could make things difficult for you.

All in all these gloves are awesome and I'm happy I finally purchased a pair of Hestra's. Be sure to get the extra little tub of glove balm to keep them lubed and they should last you a really long time.
