Great minimalist, no frills, jacket. The one long pit zip zipper is the only way to get this jacket off... athletic fit, compared to other Arc'teryx products... not much room for layering. Face fabric is lightweight, and will only take minimal abuse. I am 6'1" 220lbs and XL is perfect. Great sleeve length, and a small amount of drop seat hem for coverage. Packs down small... Hood cinches up well without a helmet... use this jacket as my goto spring/wet weather jacket...

I've worn a mountain hardwear typhoon paclite shell under a 65 lb pack for extended periods and it did just fine, there are no marks at all. Personally, the pack is the least of my worries. I would be more worried about tree branches and rocks tearing it.

Yeah I would agree with T. Lane, get something different for heavy backpack wear...

I've worn this jacket under my ruck with roughly 30 lbs.of gear in it but only for a short time.Paclite fabric is very light and does not have the abrasion resistance that Pro-Shell has.I wouldn't expect it to. This is a minimalist's shell-get a heavier duty Gore-Tex Pro-Shell for extended wear in rough conditions.I love my Alpha SV jacket-there are none better.

have you had a chance to use this jacket for extended amounts of time under heavy loads (35-50 lb.)? I'm just trying to gauge how durable the PacLite fabric is.
