Expensive Crappy Lid Design
By unrooted
Ranked #279 - Cookware

I was excited to buy this because I need a mug that won't spill in my backpack on my way to school, by bike, in the mornings. The mug worked as intended, didn't spill (most of the time). The big problem is the design of the lid, it has hidden little pockets where liquids can get into and since I have to put 1/2&1/2 in my coffee (jacked up stomach can't handle acid of plain coffee) the liquid gets into those pockets and FUNKY stuff grows in it. I rinsed the lid and mug after I used it every time but no matter what that nasty stuff would grow a layer of disgusting inside. The worst part is it's really hidden so you can't tell until all of a sudden a CHUNK of it comes out, fortunately it came out when I rinsed it, not when I was drinking, but it's really gross. I showed my wife and she started dry heaving.
What worked best in the past was a mug from Starbucks with a flip lock lid, they still sell them but the lids are much less durable than they used to be and the mugs hold barely any liquid.

Soak the little B---in water overnight with that denture-cleaning tablet every now and then...
