Very Bulky

By Ranked #932 - Women's Down Jackets February 27, 2011

I read all the reviews and I thought I'd tried this coat at an EMS store apparently I tried something else. I'm just under 5'4" and I weigh about 117lbs. The fit for a size small was very bulk. I can't imagine I could fit into an extra small ad the arm pits felt tight. I'm well proportioned 34 28 36 but this coat made me feel like a snowman. I admit I tend to be cold. But I hate it when I can feel the cold in the arms and abdomen when my chest and head are warm.
Pros: I didn't have any issues with the zipper like other reviewers.
The hood is very warm. The hand warmer pockets are deep the breast pockets held my cell phone.
Loved the pool blue thought it was more navy but loved it.
While in the house I got too warm in the coat.
Sleeves were nice and long and great cuffs.
Completely waterproof.
Great Length to my knees.
Cons: The fur on the hood feels and looks cheap.
The inside pocket is way too low at my thigh.
The elastic in the back doesn't look nice and there's no drawstring inside so when I went outside on a 35 degree day with some wind in NYC it went right up the coat and my abdomen area was cold. I was wearing what I've worn all winter a turtle neck and a sweater.
Under the arm pit was too tight.
Not nearly as warm as I expected and the day wasn't that cold. I think I would have to wear a thermal under a turtle neck with a bulky sweater to be warm in this.

Maybe the reviewers who loved this coat are used to much bulkier coats. I'm going to try the Brooklyn jacket since it has a belt and looks neater, but I'm not hopeful for the warmth.

I used to have a patagonia with it jacket that was amazing though brutal wind did go through it, with a shawl it was perfect. Unfortunately (I ruined it) and they've changed the design and now I can't wear a Turtle neck under it because the neck is too tight, the length a little too long, the waist too tight and the hip to wide. I'm frustrated I can't find a coat on sale as these jackets are on the expensive side.

I bought the Brooklyn jacket because I didn't like the way the Artic parka looked in the back. The Brooklyn jacket is neat and kept me toasty warm. In fact I sweat in it.
