Light weight, really easy to open and smaller in size than the deploy 7. Works great digging snow pits and shoveling the thick stuff. Nice design, very easy to open to full length but the only drawback is it is a bit more difficult to close, especially once there is ice build up on the notch. All in all this is still the best compact shovel i have used and highly recommend it for the lightweight backcountry skier/boarder
