Bisphenol-A free is good. i have never had problems with the bite valve. straw is a good thought so you dont have to tip the bottle up, but it doesn't work. after the first wash (on the top rack, which is acceptable according to the manufacturer) the straw came off the inside of the lid and will not stick. after the next wash (by hand) the seal around the inside of the lid leaks (presumably from the gentle dish soap?). after only 1 drop from less than 3 feet onto a semi hard surface, it has micro cracks all over the bottom of it, like a car windshield exposed to a swiftly moving 9-iron. it still works fine if you can use it in a setting where you can keep it upright, but that is not the use for which it was advertised. you could probably use it for climbing (as labeled) if it was covered in 3 layers of bubble wrap. i would not recommend using this product in any setting where you do not have access to a cup holder for storage. i would also recommend purchasing a carabiner for attaching it to your belt for those precarious times in which it could perilously fall to its demise from 36 inches. because of these less than minor factors it received 1 star. it is now impossible to drink from this vessel without it dripping on your shirt. it received 1 star because 0 is not an option, and it is still functional in that it prevents your beverage from spilling when sitting on the counter and you have no intention of drinking the aforementioned "contained" beverage. because of the above issues, i will be purchasing a nalgene bottle to take its place among my others. i know it's made from the same copolyester as nalgene, but nalgene must do something different in their manufacturing process. this camelbak turd was functional for less than 3 weeks. for those same reasons, i bought an osprey/nalgene 3liter hydration bladder (bomb-proof by the way) rather than a camelbak hydration system. maybe i got a bottle from a bad lot, but this thing is $15! I am not pretending like $15 is a whole lot of money, but you can find a one liter nalgene on sale for 6. the only thing left to say is "SERIOUSLY CAMELBAK??!!"

I would recommend utilizing CamelBak's "Got your back guarantee" and get a replacement bottle that you can use, or resell. Note, CamelBak is the ONLY company in hydration that gives you a Lifetime warranty on the entire system; pack, reservoir, delivery tube, bite valve etc. Hope this helps.
