Super warm, not super duper warm

Just got a pair, out of the box they look like a wicked pair of gloves. soft and thick goat leather on the palm and good quality construction. I got the grey. Long gauntlet and nice tie in straps. I used them on a touring trip up Whiteface mountain this past Saturday. Going up, the liners were too warm and had to remove them. At the top temps dropped to -5 and the wind picked up. Undoubtedly, my fingers got mad cold after I took them off to help the gf while strapping her pack up. At those temps with the amount of time my hands were exposed, I was pleasantly surprised my hands warmed up as fast as they did. Still took a few minutes of course, but in all honesty, with my hands being that stiff and numb, the gloves def did the trick on the way down.also have to mention while I was wearing the shells I had gotten some condensation inside. So these wet shells, dry liners got my hands toasty after just a few minutes.
Just to note, the palms do need that waterproof balm right out of the box, they did soak up some water I noticed, but, didn't feel the wetness when wearing just the shells. Also, even thought the liners are warm, they are a tad bulky.
I definitely would recommend to a friend
