Ranked #212 - Water Filters

I have not had the chance to use this filter out in the field but from the tests I have given it, it seems like it will be more than adequate for cross country backpacking. One thing, to get the listed flow rate you have to pump it like a maniac(70-80 times per min) but I'm not concerned with achieving the absolute maximum flow so its no big deal for me. It still produces at a good rate even if you take your time with it. Obviously, water with lots of particulate will slow the rate as the filter clogs so use a container to let the water sit in and let the particles settle to the bottom, if you have the time. If I were to use it in some seriously muddy water, I would be prepared for slow going and then cleaning the filter when done with each use. I wanted something that would reliably clean water in a lightweight, simple to use, field cleanable package. I found it. Also, will be updating this as I gain more field experience with this product.
