Pantagonia never fails in delivering a well thougth out product. I have always wanted this bag for its size and lightweight for travel. I have had one lightweight backpack and not this tote for 4 years, but always wanted one which has the backpack straps but a flat bottom. This bad delivers it all along with the right size in terms of length as it doesn't hit the bottom of the spine. With its thin material, it shows the work of the material science engineer. You don't need 3inch thick to withstand weight and weather. I have put tons of heavy food can foods in my pack and never rips. I even fell off my bicycle, dinged my head, tore my backpack but the rip never gets any bigger. I used super glue now to hold it together and it works like a charm. I only wish that they have a little strap over the chest or the waist to support the weight or keep the bag in place. But i guess it's not meant to carry such a heavy load or abuse. I also wish the handles a little bit longer so I can wear over my shoulder more easily. But the bottom line it's a beautifully well designed bag, good for man or woman. Expensive but i got the last 2010 model with a small discount at my local surf shop...it went up from $79 to $99 for 2011 model! Pantagonia people are also nice to deal with and their product make the store look more pleasant. I do not work for Pantagonia.
