Quality product, one SMALL complaint

By Ranked #253 - Men's Rain Jackets December 22, 2010

Am I biased about Arc'teryx? Yes. People may complain that at $250 you are only paying for "Arc'teryx" printed on your jacket, but this jacket works like a charm. Great as a casual rain/snow jacket. I can even wear it with slacks, a shirt and tie and keep a "business" look with a black jacket. But also a champion jacket for light outdoor sports. I used it backpacking in rain/sleet in Utah with a wool baselayer under in 20 degree temperatures and stayed warm and dry while active. Pitzips would be a great addition, but are not necessary. The jacket is VERY lightweight and breathes well. Also used it skiing twice at Snowbasin in Utah. Temps were 15 degrees with snow coming down and it worked great. Took a couple tumbles and no tears/wear on the jacket. I am 6'3" and 180lbs and the Large fits well. Sleeves are great length for my long limbs, and it has a slim/athletic fit which is NOT restricting. The cut is short however, which is nice around town and hiking/backpacking, but while i said I used it skiing, it did not perform well keeping powder out while bombing hills(which I expected, but used it anyways.) All in all, the jacket has ALWAYS kept me dry, ALWAYS breathed well, and ALWAYS looks good. The fit is exceptional, the quality is evident, and I always get compliments on it from fellow outdoor enthusiasts and even people who dont know what "Arc'teryx" is, let alone Gore-tex. Owning several Arc'teryx pieces I can say the extra money you fork over is worth it once you experience a product of theirs, and the Beta SL is no exception. Four stars only because the velcro wrist adjustments work well and are durable, but still do not measure up to drawcords.
