Besides the soft feel of the monkey fur this jacket insulates very well. The Polartec fabric holds up well and has a DWR finish which will repel light rain. This garment is not wind resistant and it goes right through. But, for sitting around a fire or as a layer this thing is toasty warm. I used to wear sweatshirts around the house when the temps drop but this is now my "goto" jacket.

I bought my wife a couple of these last year for Christmas and after hearing her praise them I picked up a few for myself.
