If it were any more fun, it would be snowboarding

By Ranked #352 - Telemark Skis and Alpine Touring Skis December 10, 2010

I turned to telemark after switching over to skis several years ago and sometimes missed the flotation of a fat board. These fatties bring back the flotation! Had a chance to ride these in mixed conditions today. Have mine mounted with Axls. As expected, they are super fun in the fresh deeper snow. They seemed super turny in the trees - I think partly a combo of the rocker with their light weight. Perform reasonably well for a light backcountry ski on the groomers back to the lift. Where I did notice a loss in performance was the skied-up crud and choppy snow. They seem too light for this kind of skiing. But hey, that's not what they're for right? Great combination of fat and light for the backcountry and deep, light resort days.

Update: Took them to the hills today in light snow about 10 inches deep. Feel very light on the way up (have BD STS split skins) and a blast on the way down.
