Happy to go with the Outland

Ranked #456 - Men's Hiking Shoes

I bought these guys because I was looking for something decent for my daily romp through the woods with the dog and some occasional hiking, particularly in the fall and spring. After one week I'm pretty happy with them. They are comfortable and surprisingly warm. We just got 1-2 inches of snow and if I use a midweight wool sock I felt completely warm with the temp around 25* on a 30 minute walk even though they have no insulation. They also grip very well in the cold and snow. A lot of companies go with a very hard sole for durability but then they have very poor traction when it gets cold out. Merrell has included a soft compound that works well in the snow. We'll see how they hold up over time.
