Gear Review
Incredibly Warm
By Craig Armstrong
December 5, 2010
I cannot stress enough how happy I am with this piece.
I'm 6', 175 lbs, with a long reach and the large fits me perfectly.
I've used it skiing, climbing multi-pitch routes in the cold windy shade, walking to work everyday, it's amazing. Total windproof, incredible warm insulation, water resistant, and has held up to abrasive sandstone climbs so far. I love this thing.
It's very functional. It's not the most fashionable. The hood fits over a helmet so it looks silly if you're not wearing one, but if you want a solid shell that will keep you warm this thing kicks all ass. It has a dual zipper which makes belaying in the cold really easy and convenient. The zipper did go through a break-in period, it was hart to start and unhinge at first, but it's smooth now after a month of use. This is my absolute go-to shell in cold wintry Utah weather.
