busted in patagonia andes

so i used to love these crampons. they've lead me to the top of rainer, shasta, whitney and many 11K peaks in the sierras. but when i went to south america and was traversing along a reasonably technical ridge, the steel on the crampons snapped. just snapped and left me stranded (solo) about 3 miles and 5K feet from civilization. this CAN'T happen. sent them an email asking if they could do something but it fell into a black abyss.
