fast drying, mid to low knee lenth, thin and super comfy wearing between the legs on long hikes -no chaffing.
lots of storage pockets (that could actually stand to be a bit higher due to certain heavy items bouncing agains the knee. i'm a 33" waist and can wear the 34" short without a belt, or a with a belt for extra cinch.
good short to toss over cycling liners for busting around town or the trails on the MTB.
