Abnormality???

By Ranked #510 - Men's Mountaineering Boots September 2, 2010

I wore these boots on one hike up Mt. Pilchuck, just a few miles R/T. My left boot seems to have a strange, painfully thick, piece of fabric on the tongue of the boot that hits right against my ankle. I had a deep bruise that lasted for about 3 days. My friend wore them up Rainier a few weeks later and had the same result. Of course new boots will give blisters, which I expect, but the pain in my ankle is alarming. It's only on the left boot, so I think maybe I got a bad pair. Sending back regardless and going with some Trangos.

Other than that, they're good stiff mountaineering boots. My friend said they kept his feet plenty warm and performed well with crampons. If it wasn't for that painful left boot I'd give these 4 stars, taking off just one star for the tight toe box.
