Ranked #896 - Men's Rain Jackets
August 25, 2010
Not what I expected from Patagonia. They went a little cheap with this jacket. This is almost too thin and light. It really wouldn't take a beating for long. It's similar to the North Face Venture in weight/material, but not nearly as nice as the Rain Shadow (a much better jacket, in my opinion - I have four of them). If you are looking for a durable and slick rain jacket, spend a little more on the Rain Shadow. One other thing bothered me about this coat - when I took the jacket out of the package, it smelled horrible! A real strong chemical smell that has not gone away even after trying to air it out in the house with the windows open. Ugh. It's going back.

I am 5'11" and 170 pounds. I normally wear a large in Jackets but i am not sure what size to get here. I would like the option of wearing it with a North Face fleece underneath and not have it feel to snug but also wear it with just a t-shirt or flannel. What size would you rec?
