Ranked #135 - Women's Rain Jackets
August 19, 2010
I got this jacket from backcountry after going to REI to try on all different kinds. I looked at some Columbia, TNF's Venture, Sierra Designs, even the Crystalline, and this one stole my heart! I'm 5'5 130, and I fit easily in the small, with room for a hoodie underneath.
My boyfriend was convinced I should've just got a cheaper little shell, and kept teasing me about the jacket- until we went to Alaska (where I'm from). This jacket kept me dry and wind-free while biking the 22 mile tony knowles coastal trail, and I didn't get clammy. Our glacier cruise out of Whittier was on a horrible day, tons of fog, wind, and rain. His jacket was soaked through to his sweater, so it was my turn to tease since I was bone-dry!
I took it on hikes in the interior of AK and was easily able to walk, jump, grab, climb, scramble, etc, with this jacket on, the movement is incredible.
This baby comes camping with me all over Utah, and of course Yellowstone & Tetons since you never know when it will turn rainy. It's very easy to pack into the pocket, very lightweight, doesn't sound like a loud rubbery rain jacket, and best of all I still look cute and feminine when it's on!
Totally worth your money, this thing will last forever, and even if it doesn't Marmot's guarantee can't be beat!
