Ok, so I held of on reviewing this shirt until I put it to the test in the cold and the heat. Skiied in Colorado in the teens, had this as my base, Patagonia R2, and my Mountain Hardware Shell. Incredibly warm to the point I started sweating for a bit, but this shirt did not hold any moisture and dried out superfast. I recently tried it out in Banff on a day hike. Was about 78 degrees at the lower elevations and damn close to freezing at the summit (played in some leftover snow :-) I wore this shirt and shorts. I was sweating like a sauna at near the base to the point the shirt was soaked. Took a 20 minute or so break about halfway up and in the blink of an eye it seemed the marmot shirt was dry as a bone, so much so that it alone kept me plenty warm until I reached the summit where it was insanely cold for the middle of august. That required adding my pac-lite MH windstopper. I would highly recommend this base layer for both winter and summer activites, it is top notch! Fit is great, not itchy, no tags, and worth every penny. Enjoy

I wouldn't say the neck is loose, but it's also not tight. I have a pretty large/broad neck and I'm not restricted or uncomforatable in the shirt. Fit's me great.
