Nice and light. Great to have the Gore-Tex to your feet drier. Have used them for running on dirt and climbing up mountains. Tread grips well on loose, firm dirt and rock. The lace system in genius, tucking away the extra in the tongue flap for zero excess lace exposure. Stock insole feels nice on the foot. Must haves for sure!! Not bad for walking around in the real world.

hey chris, You can check out the final condition of my shoes in the pictures I submited. The weak point of these shoes seem to be the uppers, but I also took them thru hell and back..!! If you are planning a fair weather thru-hike I would suggest not going with the gortex. Hot weather plus gortex equals sweaty feet that don't dry out..!! I started my thru-hike in January so I opted for the gortex to help keep my feet warmer while hiking in the snow. hope this helps and good luck on your thru-hike

I used mine on the Appalachian Trail, they held up very well. 1,000 trail miles, Springer to Harper's Ferry.
