Gear Review
what's up with the weak buckles?

I bought this pack last season because I needed something bigger than my old school Dana Designs for longer trips. While I love the functionality and comfort I am very disappointed in the small compression buckles. Broke the first one on day two of its first trip, broke a second one on a recent trip, and can see similar fatigue on the other like buckles. Haven't checked with MH yet for replacement buckles but they are sewn in on one side so at best I can only hope for a new, cheap buckle. Love the company and I like the overall design of the pack, but gear failure on trail is not an option. Bought it at REI so I will probably return it for something different.
My only design dislike is the shoulder straps on the detachable day pack. Handy idea for day hikes in the middle of a long trip, but the mesh straps and lack of any support are only comfortable for very light weight loads (i.e. : rainjacket and powerbar).
