Is it the shirt or my armpits?

This shirt fits well (if you like a clingy fit), is lightweight, breathes well, and functions well both as a baselayer in cold weather and as your only layer in summer. It is not a magical BO killer, though. After a hard day of hiking in it, it still smells funky. Admittedly not as bad as with polyester, but it definitely stinks.
Reading some of the reviews for this shirt, you'd think you could wear it for a week on the trail and still smell as fresh on day 7 as day 1. Not true, guys. (Unless I have some unusually radioactive underarm sweat, that is.) This shirt will pick up funk and does need to be washed regularly.
Still, it's a good shirt. If it wasn't so darn expensive I'd give it 4 stars. Try to get it on SAC for a better deal, like I did.

The couple of these that I have are definitely less BO resistant than the Icebreaker and Smartwool merino bits I've got. I can wear those for 3-4 sweaty days before they start to get mildly offensive. On a bad day, the older of the Stoic shirts can start stinking noticeably by the end of the afternoon. These still do better than the synthetics I have that aren't infused w/ dangerous levels of anti-microbal treatments, but they don't exactly reach the pinacle of funk defying potential that merino can achieve after they've been around for a while IMO. Still well worth the price though.
