I recently tried these out on a ski trip to Camp Muir, Mt. Rainier. Camp Muir is situated at 10,188 feet, approx. 5000' above your starting point at Paradise. The approach up the Muir Snowfield was a great test for the Explorers. It was a June bluebird day - very hot, and not much breeze until half way up. We got a late start and by the time we arrived at Muir, we were already in shade. On the way down we passed through a dimly lit cloud layer - mostly fog like conditions, so I really had a chance to put the Camel lenses to the test.
Much to my amazement, visibility was excellent in all light conditions encountered. In every instance these glasses were totally comfortable and fit excellent as you can shape/mold the frames to your liking. They never fogged up, even though several others in our group were complaining that their glasses were fogging.
During periods of intense brightness/reflection, I found myself snugging them up to my face to seal out reflected perimeter light. They fit perfectly around my eye sockets like mini goggles or even swim goggles. and even though I was dripping sweat most of the day - they never fogged - amazing!
I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to see well in the late afternoon cloud layer near Panorama Point on the way down, and that I would have to stop and take out my ski goggles. However, much to my surprise they actually amplified so much light that I didn't need anything else.
These are the most expensive glasses I have ever purchased, but if you only want one pair of glasses, or don't want to have to change lenses, multiple times throughout the day - the Explorers are highly recommended. In that respect, they are a true value and you won't be disappointed.
