Rad Ski
By Dave Watson
Ranked #558 - Big Mountain Freeride Skis

This ski wants to go FAST! Super fun, great pow ski. Rides and edges well on harder surfaces too, windbuff, hardpack. Made for getting up to speed in the deep. The slight sidecut is great, enough to help get the ski around when you want to turn and doesn't hook up and get squirrely when straight lining in wind buff. Rocker helps to initiate turns and keep the tips up when it's really deep. Not too heavy for touring. For free heelers, the Hammerhead Axl is a great match for these boards.

Dave, how big are you and what size ski are you riding? I'm 5'11 160 lbs. I've been on the white 188 Megawatts with Axles for 2 seasons now and I really like the idea of a little wider ski that has a bit stiffer tip to drive through stuff more. I like the Megawatt in the 188 length great, I can manhandle it, but I'm worried that given K2's history of running long I won't be able to do the same with the 188 darkside. I am considering the older 2009/10 model fyi. if you or anyone else has the answer please chime in...
