Oh Where Have You Been All My Life!

By Ranked #149 - Sleeping Pads April 26, 2010

My little ones (3 and 4) really enjoy camping so we ended up buying an air mattress which lasted maybe two trips. On top of that, I didn't find it comfortable at all. I decided to bite the bullet and spring for two dream times. This was the best decision I ever made. I am beyond impressed with how comfortable this pad is. Please keep in mind that this baby is heavy (over six pounds). It is ONLY for car camping but it would also be great for guests at your house. I'm not kidding. Its better than a couch. On top of the pad is a layer of tempurpedic material and then a very soft cover that even zips off for washing. I bought the the XL model and plan on buying one more regular size as our tent can accomodate it in the sleeping side. If you are only an occasional camper, the price point may be a bit ridiculous but our kids have enjoyed camping so much that it was a worthwhile investment. Plus they can be used for kid's sleepovers, out of town guests, etc... I really think we will get a lot of use out of them. Also, please note you will NOT get them back in their original packing sack. They were compressed unbelievably tight. We plan on putting them behind a dresser.

Just a note - you should not store a self inflating pad (like this one) compressed. It will ruin the pad. Store it with the vents open, preferably lying flat. I keep mine under my bed, behind a dresser isn't bad either, you may get a slight curl on the end that it's standing up on.
