Gear Review
Warm, Light, and Versatile

Ranked #234 - Men's Vests

The only vest I use and own and for good reasons. The Primaloft eco insulating material is not only lightweight and extremely compressible, it's also fast drying and the external DWR finish makes it even more weather-resistant. No, it's not as warm as down vests, but the Redpoint with its reduced bulk still insulates my core very well while blocking out almost all wind. It's a great three-season vest because it works perfectly over a t-shirt or long-sleeve in the Fall and Spring while being a great zip-in base layer or outer shell in the Winter. I found this vest more superior than the Apex Bionic vest in both insulating warmth and its napoleon chest pocket which is utilized frequently. I use it regularly for casual wear, but it has also accompanied me on light hiking trips as well. My only qualm would be that it doesn't breathe very well.
