Gear Review
Nice until you use it...

I purchased this for my youngest (4yo) to get started with. We were out on the lake today and being a new kayaker and four years old, he banged it against the side of the kayak as he learned. He couldn't have been out there more than five minutes and then we came back in.
The paddle is made of uncovered fiberglass and not spiral "wrapped" like my other Werner paddle is (which still doesn't wear as well as my Lendal). The fiberglass takes a beating and does not hold up to normal use. I am concerned that my kid is going to wear it further down and start getting fiberglass splinters.
I now have to put some kind of tough material over the paddle to keep it from getting further worn and becoming unusable.
Overall, not happy with this purchase. Perhaps I should have gotten a metal paddle with the shrink-tube grips? On a positive note, it does make it easy to tell him to keep the smiley-faces up.
