Great technically, bad durability

I bought the Salomon Mega Trek 6 Light GTX backpacking boot from backcountry.com after lots of research. i tend to hike a minimum of 50 miles per month, often up to 200 miles per month. In other words, I do a lot of hiking and backpacking.
Overall, I was veryimpressed with these boots. They are exceptionally waterproof compared to many other boots. Their performance is extraordinary. No complaints there. However, it did not take very long, and the shoes began to fall apart. They really did not last very long before the tread started to disappear and the uppers started to become shredded. i was doing a lot of off-trail hiking which is rough on shoes, but their durability is still highly unacceptable. I have found this to be a frequent problem with Salomon products. They are all great technically, but skimp on durabilty.
Thankfully, backcountry.com is a great site to do business with, and even though the box was all torn up and I didn't have tags, they took my extremely worn out boots back and refunded me my money. I will happily do business with them again.
